Coming from an Italian family, I used to avoid buying whole wheat pasta since I thought of it as a diet food. Now that I've been incorporating it into dishes like this, I have come to enjoy it's slightly nutty flavor. Also, it tends to keep it's "al dente" texture without the risk of it overcooking and becoming mushy.
