Ginger Pear Waffles

Indulge your sweet tooth the healthy way with this decadent recipe for Ginger Pear Waffles from Jarlsberg Lite Cheese. Jarlsberg Lite adds a smooth, creamy touch to this dish, which works perfectly for breakfast or dessert.


Makes 4 waffle sandwiches.

  • 8 square (frozen) waffles (if you'd like, use gluten-free)
  • 2 firm medium pears
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried ginger (1/2 teaspoon for spicier taste)
  • 1/4 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 cup (4 ounces) Jarlsberg Lite cheese, shredded


  1. Toast waffles and set aside.  Wash, core and thinly slice pears. 
  2. Heat butter on medium-high and saute pears 4 minutes.  Sprinkle on ginger, nuts and sugar and saute another minute, cooking pears and toasting nuts.
  3. Divide pears on four waffles.  Top each with ¼ cup (1 ounce) cheese, then with second waffle.
  4. Wrap in microwave safe paper and refrigerate.  Microwave on high 1 minute.
