Faster Thanksgiving Turkey

On the Thanksgiving holiday, you shouldn't have to spend all day in the kitchen. Instead, prepare this faster thanksgiving turkey-it cooks in just two hours! The delicious results will make you a believer-this is the best way to cook a turkey.

Cooking Time2 hr

Ingredients

  • 14 pounds turkey
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 teaspoon sage, dry
  • 1 teaspoon thyme, dry
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Remove giblets and neck from turkey and place to the side. Rinse and drain turkey, then pat dry. Use a covered roasting pan that fits the bird.
     
  2. Slice onion in half and place inside turkey. Blend sage, thyme, salt and pepper with a small amount of fat to create a paste. Spread on outside of turkey and press into skin. Tie turkey legs together.
     
  3. Pour 1/2 inch water into pan and cover with lid. Place pan in a 350 degree F oven until meat thermometer registers 185 degrees F (about 90 to 120 minutes).
     
  4. If desire a browned bird, uncover for last 10 minutes. Remove from oven and before carving, place aside for 15 minutes. Drain liquid into a pot and return turkey to a warm oven til ready to carve.
