Straight From The County Fair

This super easy recipe with pears comes to you Straight From The County Fair! With only 4 main ingredients, this is truly one of the best healthy desserts recipes you're ever bound to find.

Ingredients

  • 4 large pears
  • 2 ounces sugar substitute suitable for baking, about 50 grams
  • 1/2 pint red wine, about 300 mililiters
  • 2 whole cloves

Instructions

  1. Peel the pears, leaving the stalks on.
     
  2. Put the sugar substitute, wine and the cloves in a saucepan just large enough to hold the pears and heat gently until the sugar has dissolved.
     
  3. Add the pears, standing them upright in the pan, cover and simmer gently for about 15 minutes, until the pears are just tender, basting from time to time with the liquid.
     
  4. With a slotted spoon transfer the pears to a serving dish.
     
  5. Remove the lid from the pan of syrup, increase the heat and boil until the liquid has reduced by half. Pour over the pears and serve hot or cold with thick natural yogurt or cream.
