Even those who think they are not fans of broccoli recipes will enjoy this Tangy Garlic Broccoli recipe from Alli from An Open Cookbook. Alli says, "Soy sauce and lemon juice give this garlic sauce a tangy kick to add to fresh steamed broccoli."

Makes2 servings

  • 2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 small lemons, juiced
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 3 cups fresh broccoli, chopped

  1. Whisk the soy sauce, lemon juice, water, sugar, garlic, sesame seeds, salt and pepper in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Lower to a simmer and stir occasionally.
  2. Heat a medium saute pan over medium heat. Add in the broccoli. Pour about a tablespoon of water into the pan and cover. This creates a steaming effect on the broccoli. Cook until broccoli is slightly crunchy and bright green, 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Remove broccoli from pan and put in a serving bowl. Pour the warm garlic sauce over the broccoli and serve immediately.
