The Subway Diet

What it is: After Jared Fogle lost over 245 pounds eating 2 subway sandwiches a day, the idea of using Subway as part of a diet plan took off. The diet involves eating off of the low fat 6 inch sub menu.

How it works:
Eating from the low fat subway menu reduced Jared’s calorie consumption to about 1000 calories per day. This, combined with walking regularly, helped him to lose weight.

What you do:
On the diet plan, lunch is a 6 inch sub from Subway’s low fat menu, which includes turkey breast, ham, vegetarian and roast beef among others, and a bag of baked potato chips. Dieters are cautioned against adding fat and calories to their sandwiches with condiments like mayo. Dinner is a 12 inch vegetarian sub with extra vegetables, no cheese and no oil or mayo. To lose his weight, Jared also incorporated walking into his daily routine, typically walking about 1.5 miles per day.

Benefits: This low calorie meal plan, combined with moderate exercise, may help you lose weight.

The Down Side:
The diet can be repetitive and dieters may get tired of eating subway each day.
