  • 2 ripe avocados, peeled and pitted
  • 2 tomatoes, seeded and finely chopped
  • 2 shallots, finely chopped
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 scallions, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 2 to 3 chilies or jalapeno peppers, finely chopped
  • 1 dash cumin
  • 1 dash chili powder
  • Juice from one lime
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, freshly ground


  1. Put the avocado in a large bowl and mash with a fork or potato masher.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.
  3. Season with salt and black pepper. Serve cold or at room temperature.
