Spaghetti and "Meatball" Casserole

This Spaghetti and "Meatball" Casserole reinvents the classic Italian dish. Unlike the (inferior) normal version, this spaghetti and meatballs casserole has the added advantage that its baked, which means that along with the usual rich tomato sauce, you get melty bubbles of mozzarella, and as well as the usual soft and slurpy noodles, you get crispy bits on top. Its comfort food on steroids. Besides being made into a casserole, this healthy dinner recipe is unique because it is entirely vegetarian. Meat lovers won't believe they are eating vegetarian meatballs, it's that good.

I tried to leave comment but my entry did not show up as typed in( letters were missing even after 4 careful attempts) The recipe looks good but I needed to "tweek" it to meet our dietary restrictions.I make a "MEAT"sauce using TVP ( texturized vegetable protein) instead of meatballs. The HEARTY "MEAT" sauce easily replaces meatballs w/o fat or cholesterol.... takes much less time effort.

I love the idea of a baked Spaghetti and Meatball Casserole. However, the recipe calls for vegetarian meatballs and I am not sure I want to add the highly processed meatless meatballs with a long list of ingredients available in the grocery stores. Does anyone have a recipe for homemade meatless meatballs?

Hello! We currently don't have any vegetarian meatball recipes, but our editors will start looking for a few recipes to add to the site. Thank you for your comment!

How large are the meatballs you used? I can't really see any meatballs in the pictures. Looks really tasty!

We recommend using medium sized meatballs! Perhaps the size of a bouncy ball.
