Mama's Healthy Sweet Potato Steak Fries

Mama likes to keep her kids healthy so she learned how to make sweet potato fries in a healthier way. These are the perfect sweet potato fries for someone who's looking for a french fry alternative that will be a bit better for you. Bon Apetit!

Cooking Time9 min

Cooking MethodMicrowave

Ingredients

  • 1 large yam or sweet potato
  • Fat-free cooking spray
  • Salt and pepper, dried maple or honey powder to taste (with sugar substitute if available)

Instructions

  1. Peel sweet potato and slice into steak fry sized pieces.

  2. Place pieces in a microwave safe round platter or dish.

  3. Spray with the fat free cooking oil and sprinkle on seasonings to taste.

  4. Heat on high in microwave until soft. It takes 6 to 9 minutes for the potatoes to become softened in a standard 700 watt microwave oven.

  5. You can also do this in the conventional oven at 350 degrees F until well soft and well cooked. Serve with a fat free honey mustard sauce on the side if you wish.
