Meatless Barbecue Sandwiches

This healthy and quick recipe has far less cholesterol, calories and fat than traditional barbecue sandwiches because it is meatless. Enjoy a healthier take on barbecue with this easy quick and simple recipe.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup textured vegetable protein
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 medium onion, chopped fine
  • 1 or 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Vegetable broth
  • Barbecue sauce
Instructions
  1. Mix the TVP with the 1/2 cup water and set aside for 5 minutes.
     
  2. Saute onion in about 1 tablespoon of vegetable broth until almost clear. Then add garlic and cook for another minute.
     
  3. Add the reconstituted TVP. Add the barbecue sauce until the mixture is the right consistency for sandwiches.
     
  4. Heat thoroughly and serve.
