Since this sweet treat is completely sugar free, it is one of the best kid friendly recipes for snack time. Use Jell-O in a whole new way with this Homemade Gummy Worms recipe from Tova of Diabetic Survival Kit. Since this diabetic friendly recipe has only three ingredients, you have no excuse to pass this one up! Feel free to use different molds to create new fun shapes for something besides worms.

  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 packages sugar-free Jell-O (any two flavors, or two of the same)
  • 3 envelopes flavorless gelatin
  • Cooking spray
  1. Combine boiling water, Jell-O, and flavorless gelatin.
  2. Pour into lightly sprayed 8x8 pan.
  3. Cool for 30 minutes or until firm.
  4. Cut into strips for “worms,” or use cookie cutters to make fun shapes. Enjoy!

I tried this at home and once i poured in the gelatin, the gelatin just turned into clumps and then hard sticky styrofoam. I had to remove those clumps and then add the 3 cups of water to the already boiling one cup of water with the rest of the gelatin again. Removed the new clumps and refridgerate. I got a really firm bowl of jello that i took out by hand and cut into slices and then slithers. Will try this with the mixtures mixed dried first before adding them into the boiling water.

This wasn't a complete waste of money, just a couple bucks for the gelatin. I made firmer jello instead of gummy worms. Trial and error for this attempt.

I like the worms it's easy and fun. and diabetic ,I could make these for my dad. He really doen't like jello but if I made these he would eat these cuz he wouldn't know they wern't jello cuz I wouldn't tell him!!!!
