Fun healthy kids snacks that taste great are hard to find in the supermarket. Good thing this recipe for Homemade Fruit Leather allows to make a delicious kid-friendly snack without spending a bundle!

Serves: 4

Ingredients
  • 3 cups pears, sliced
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon
  • Juice of 1/2 Lemon
Instructions
  1. Cook the pears in enough water to cover, until very soft. Drain.

  2. Mix in salt, cinnamon and lemon juice. Puree in food processor fitted with steel blade, or in blender.

  3. Spread no more than 1/4-inch thick on a very well-greased cookie sheet with edges (grease the edges too.)

  4. Leave in the oven set on the lowest temp (or just the pilot light in gas ovens) for at least 6 hours or overnight.

  5. Cut into 3x4-inch pieces and roll up in pieces of wax paper. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator or freezer until needed.
Notes

Instead of pears, you can use apples, prunes, dried apricots or berries, if desired.
