Simply use this Homemade Marinara from DeLallo Foods to top any pasta dish that requires a red sauce, such as breaded Parmesan-style dishes like eggplant or chicken. A seemingly simple red sauce transforms any dish from ordinary to extraordinary, following the tradition of Italian cuisine: fresh, simple ingredients.

Makes: 3 1/2 cups of sauce

Ingredients
  • 1/4 cup DeLallo Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 can can DeLallo San Marzano Whole Tomatoes (28 ounces), crushed by hand
  • Italian flat-leaf parsley, chopped
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 3 large basil leaves
Instructions
  1. In a large saucepan, sauté onion in olive oil, until soft and translucent, on medium to low heat. Add garlic and sauté until golden, being careful not to overcook.

  2. Add tomatoes to saucepan and bring to a boil. Once boiling, lower heat and cover with a lid. Cook for about 20 minutes on medium heat. Stir in parsley. Salt and pepper to taste. Cook for another 5 minutes.

  3. Turn off heat and mix in fresh basil.
