As it turns out, the best donut recipe is not deep fried at all! Impress friends and family with this Mini Baked Glazed Donuts recipe. Thanks to a mini donut pan, baked donut recipes are super simple. There's never a bad time to enjoy this sweet baked good!

Cooking Time: 20 min

Ingredients
  • 1 cup whole wheat pastry flour, or white whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar, or equivalent sugar substitute suitable for baking
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup skim milk
  • 1 egg
  • 4 tablespoons butter, or equivalent butter substitute
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • GLAZE:
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon skim milk
  • Sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Mix together all the wet ingredients in a small sauce pan using a whisk over medium heat until butter is melted but the mixture is still cool enough to touch, about 4 to 6 minutes.

  3. In a separate bowl, combine dry ingredients and use a whisk to mix thoroughly and sift the flour so there are no lumps.

  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry to create a sticky dough.

  5. Using a donut pan, measure out about a tablespoon of dough for each donut. Use a wet finger to smooth out the tops to create a nicer looking donut.

  6. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes.

  7. Mix together powdered sugar and skim milk with a whisk to form a glaze for your donuts.

  8. After the donuts are cooled, dip the tops into the glaze and then promptly shake sprinkles while the glaze is still wet. Place on wire rack until dry, approximately 1 hour.
