Comment On This Article

What it is: The French Don’t Diet was written by Dr. William Clower and is comprised for ten steps and two phases available in the book. The entire plan is based on the typical French lifestyle. Generally speaking, this means eating fresh food as opposed to processed food, smaller portions and longer meal times intended to increase relaxation and happiness.

How it works: The French Don’t Diet moves in phases. The first phase encourages weight loss by way of well-balanced meals, banning high-glycemic foods. The second phase is about controlling the weight.

What you do: The French Don’t Diet is different than most meal-plans because it allows foods that are normally banished from diets such as cheese, bread, chocolate and butter. Almost everything is allowed from dairy to grains to meat to fruits and vegetables – as long as it’s in moderation. Exercise is encouraged – in a French way. Walking places you would normally drive and just generally having a more active day.

Benefits: On the French Don’t Diet, followers are trying to recreate the French lifestyle so enjoying yourself is high priority – you can drink wine, enjoy your favorite foods, and avoid calorie counting while losing weight, lowering your cholesterol, and reducing the risk of diabetes.

Downside: The French Don’t Diet may be hard to follow if you’re deadest on eating processed foods. This also may not be the plan for you if you’re a upper busy person as the diet requires longer meal time and takes more preparation time.
