The Maple Syrup Diet

What it is: Also known as the Beyonce Diet or the Lemonade Diet, the Maple Syrup diet is more of a detox cleanse than a real diet. Those who have followed this fasting plan claim that they lose weight, see better, feel better, hear better, and smell better after ridding their bodies of toxins that have ailed them for years. Contrary to popular belief, the Maple Syrup Diet is not some new modern miracle weight loss program. In fact, it was pioneered by Stanley Burroughs in the 1950s.

How it works: The Maple Syrup Diet is a plan that requires consuming nothing but a concoction of Grade B Maple syrup, fresh squeezed lemon juice, spring water and cayenne pepper for up to ten days. Your daily calorie in-take will be about 500 so you will probably be too weak for any exercise.

What you do: In a one-gallon jug, mix the following – 3 quarts water, 1 cup lemon juice, 1 cup Grade B Maple Syrup, 1 tsp. Cayenne pepper. Shake the mixture together and drink 8 to 12 glasses a day.

Benefits: The weight loss experience with the Maple Syrup Diet is immediate as the dieter loses pounds of retained fecal matter and many claim to experience a yogi-like state of being in the fasting state with feelings of serenity and euphoria.

Downside: Don’t make any plans – the Maple Syrup diet is going to keep you home for a few days rushing to the bathroom with frequent bowel movements. Also, many dieters experience extreme food cravings due to the lack of food intake besides the maple syrup mixture and many found mood swings and fatigue quite common.
