The Fat Flush Diet

This three-phase, detoxifying diet claims to remove fat from your hips, waist and thighs in just two weeks.

What it is: The Fat Flush diet is a low-carbohydrate diet which encourages the fat-burning qualities of the liver through three phases, starting with detoxifying.

How it works: Instead of cutting out fat completely, this diet recommends the right fats. In the first phase, the liver is detoxified to jumpstart weight loss. In phase two and three, dieters slowly re-add good carbohydrates and dairy foods back into their diets.

What you do: In all phases of the diet, dieters eat lean meats, fruits, vegetables, and omega-3 rich fats such as flaxseed. Dieters drink a “Long Life Cocktail” of cranberry juice, psyllium seed/flaxseed and water. Dieters eat 1,100 to 1,200 calories in the first phase of the diet, 1,200-1,500 in the second and maintain 1,500 or more per day in the third phase and on. Exercise, proper sleep and a journal are all essential parts of the plan.

Benefits: The diet has both the benefits of a quick, detoxifying diet and a more long-term weight loss plan. The benefits of omega-3 fats have been well-documented by many medical sources.

Downside: The diet can be very restrictive, especially in the low-calorie, detoxifying phase 1. Odd restrictions include no vegetables and fruits eaten together, no milk or meat together and no water with meals.
