Peanut Butter and Chocolate Bars

Wondering how to make chocolate peanut butter bars healthy? Try this recipe for these delicious Peanut Butter and Chocolate Bars. Plus, dark chocolate is high in antioxidants, so you might even say this dessert is good for you!

Ingredients
  • 1/2 pound low fat graham crackers (1 pack of a 3-pack box)
  • 1 cup reduced fat peanut butter
  • 16 tablespoons margarine
  • 3 cups sugar substitute
  • 3 tablespoons margarine
  • 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons skim milk
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions

DOUGH:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
     
  2. In a food processor fitted with a steel blade, grind graham crackers into crumbs.
     
  3. Then add peanut butter, 16 tablespoons of margarine, sugar substitute, light brown sugar and vanilla extract for crust. Process until a ball of dough forms.
     
  4. Turn crust into a 9 X 13-inch pan and spread it smooth with a spatula.
     
  5. Bake in the oven for about 5 to 10 minutes.

     

TOPPING:

  1. In a medium sauce pan, stir together dark chocolate chips, skim milk, and remaining 3 tablespoons of margarine over low heat until the chocolate is melted.
     
  2. Pour the topping over the crust while it is still warm.
     
  3. Chill in refrigerator and cut into squares when firm.
