For a more traditional take on one of the most classic holiday recipes, try out Kevin's Sweet Potato Casserole recipe. This sweet potato recipe from Kevin of Closet Cooking (http://closetcooking.com/) only uses real, wholesome ingredients.

Makes: 4 to 8 servings

Preparation Time: 10 min

Cooking Time: 50 min

Ingredients
  • 2 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup pecans, coarsely chopped
Instructions
  1. Boil the sweet potatoes in water until tender, about 20 to 30 minutes. Once cooked, drain and mash.
     
  2. Mix in 1/4 cup of the sugar, maple syrup, milk, eggs, room temperature butter, cinnamon, vanilla extract and salt. Pour the mixture into a baking dish.
     
  3. Mix 1/2 cup brown sugar, flour, melted butter and pecans until the mixture forms crumbs. Then, sprinkle it on top of the sweet potatoes.
     
  4. Bake in a preheated 375 degrees F until golden brown on top, about 30 minutes.
