Basic Burger Casserole

This Basic Burger Casserole recipe is sure to be a hit for everyone sitting around your dinner table tonight. Out of all the easy casserole recipes, this is one of the healthiest options that combines everyone's favorite ingredients: cheese, potatoes, and ground beef.

Cooking Time: 1 hr 30 min

Ingredients
  • 1 pound extra lean ground beef
  • 1 can low fat cream of mushroom soup
  • 3/4 cup skim milk
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 3 cups raw potatoes, sliced
  • 1/2 pound reduced fat Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1/4 cup margarine
Instructions
  1. Brown ground beef and drain off fat, set aside.
     
  2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
     
  3. Mix low fat cream of mushroom soup, skim milk, onion, salt and pepper in a seperate bowl.
     
  4. In large casserole dish, layer potatoes, soup mixture and hamburger. Repeat layers again, ending with hamburger. and dot with margarine.
     
  5. Cover and bake for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours.
     
  6. Sprinkle with grated low fat Cheddar cheese and bake just until cheese is melted.
